Have you developed a strong profile in your LinkedIn account? Do you take professional networking seriously and regularly invite others to join your LinkedIn network? Have you grown a fairly large contact list for your job search or career / business development purposes? Do you have absolutely critical recommendations listed in your profile?
If any of the above are true, you will want to pay attention. My friend and colleague Jason Alba of JibberJobber alerted me to a big potential problem: your account could be deleted from LinkedIn without your even knowing why.
Read Jason's Linkedin Maintenance blog post for the 2 essential things you need to do right NOW to preserve what you have developed on LinkedIn. Whether you've used LinkedIn a little or a lot, you don't want your efforts to go to waste and then have to start all over, right? Just like you would backup your computer's hard drive and all those documents and files you slaved over and tweaked, you can also backup your LinkedIn account. In fact, plan on doing monthly maintenance - schedule it in your calendar for the first of the month, every month!
I have already tackled this critical maintenance on my LinkedIn account, so now it's your turn. What are you waiting for?
