With the economy reeling from the recent Big 5 financial investment company debacles and thousands of people being laid off and thrown into active job search mode, it may seem that attaining happiness is an impossible goal. Not so says Gretchen Rubin, author of The Happiness Project (forthcoming in 2009). Ms. Rubin will be the guest speaker for the Reach Branding Club Interview Series on Thursday, October 2, 2008 at noon EST. She will be interviewed by William Arruda of Reachcc.com and The Reach Branding Club.
Listen in as Ms. Rubin will relate:
- What is a "happiness project" and why you might want to start one,
- How happiness impacts a person's career,
- What to do if you are unhappy at work,
- Quick steps to being happier at the end of the day,
- Long-term steps to invest in your own happiness, and
- Some of the big obstacles that impede happiness.
The Happiness Project is about Gretchen Rubin's one year happiness "test-drive". It explores scientific studies, popular culture tips, and the philosophies and wisdom accumulated over the ages about happiness. The author of three previous books, Ms. Rubin's daily blog www.happiness-project.com is ranked in the Technoratic Top 50. Her initial career in law included clerking for Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor and serving as editor-in-chief of Yale Law Journal.
