In fact, statistics from a recent TweetMyJobs.com survey of 2,000 job seekers and 400 company representatives indicated that 50% of job seekers still spend most of their time on traditional job boards. But another 29% of job seekers used social media as their primary tool for job searching.
Why the difference? Perhaps the 29% recognize that social media is the recruiting wave of the future (that is crashing around our ankles right now)!
Social recruiting makes sense to employers because it is cheaper, more time-efficient, and yields higher quality candidates than posting job openings to job boards.
